Fourteen of us, including new walker Ros, braved the rain and the wind to walk in Dawlish.
We met at Henty Avenue and walked along the main road to the town centre. We were unable to use brollies, as the wind blew them inside out!
We walked beside the stream and saw the five cygnets with their mother, father was swimming in the stream.
We crossed a bridge and walked to the Manor House gardens. We walked through the gardens and back over a bridge and continued walking beside the stream towards the sea front. We paused to watch three cygnets enter the stream, two plopped in!
Four of the group decided to go for coffee, they were going to join us for lunch, but unfortunately one of them felt unwell. Pleased to hear she is feeling better.
The rest of us walked to the sea front to look at the waves. It was very windy, so we were unable to walk along the sea wall. We continued along the main road towards Dawlish Warren.
At Henty Avenue we said goodbye to another four and continued to Mount Pleasant Inn, where we were joined by Ursula. It was good to get out of the rain. Lunch was a happy affair. The Inn were doing a special offer of Roast and Dessert for £9.74, so we all indulged!
The weather turned for the worse, Ursula kindly drove three to their cars at Henty Avenue and came back to take the rest of us back to Newton Abbot.
Hooray for Ursula.
