12th December 2018 Ipplepen – Led by Val & Neil

Val writes:-
On a very overcast, damp morning fifteen walkers set off from the Wellington Inn, Ipplepen, for our usual stroll to Orley Common. The walk took us through woodlands and due to the recent inclement weather and the trees having shed their leaves – the paths were quite slippery in places but thankfully everyone managed to stay on their feet
Returning to the road we visited the Church and carried on through the churchyard into the village.  We were lucky enough to have someone in the group that had lived in the village many years ago and was able to point out where the old village bakery and doctor’s surgery were. Also the Old Coaching House and The Plough Inn – now all residential properties.
On returning to the Wellington Inn car park it poured with rain but a warm welcome awaited us inside where we were joined by our “lunchers”. Twenty-one sitting down to a superb meal.
