31st May – Kingswear & Dartmouth

This walk was led by Norma, who also took all the photos below.
Norma writes:-
Seven of us met outside Kingswear steam station. Where was everyone else?..
The weather was misty with the clouds hugging the hills around the River Dart as we crossed over on the passenger ferry. We walked via Custom’s Quay, Warfleet Creek and St.Petrox Church to the castle – lots of interesting sites and activity on the estuary. We then zig-zagged up to Gallant’s Bower (a civil war fort) high above the estuary,  where, although misty, there was a view up to the Naval college.
We returned through the woods around the coast and back to Dartmouth and the sun was shining!
After the walk we enjoyed a super lunch at Lupton House!
