March 20th – Steps Bridge

On the first day of Spring we sprang into action along the banks of the River Teign at Steps Bridge.
It was cool and dry when Maureen and Jaki led 12 of us on what promised to be be an enjoyable stroll through the glades of the Teign Valley with carpets of Lent Lilies and the prospect of seeing some deer and kingfishers.
We certainly saw many Lent Lillies, but the most lasting memory of this walk will surely be that of the muddy paths and pools of water which at times nearly engulfed even Maureen’s wellies.
After surviving a heavy shower of rain near the end of the walk we returned to Christow to warm up by the open fire at the Artichoke Inn.
