The weather was cold, the skies were overcast and visibility was poor, so many of the fine views we expected to see on this walk went unphotographed.
We did manage a bit of train-waving, so for this walk I have made a short movie instead of showing the photos. (Turn your sound on to hear the music)
Arthur led 17 walkers from Galmpton onto Churston Common with its well known windmill landmark, then down to Broadsands under Brunel’s railway viaduct.
Passing Elbury Cove we skirted the golf course and at Churston Court Arthur gave us an interesting commentary on the history of this ancient village.
Crossing the busy main road we went into the countryside above Lupton where normally we would have fine views toward Totnes.
After pausing to watch a passing steam train and some strange looking ducks we returned to the Manor Inn at Galmpton for lunch.
