December 12th – Christmas Walk, Ipplepen

On this exclusive date twenty two walkers gathered at The Wellington Inn, Ipplepen
With the temperature at 4 degsC we set off on a short amble around Orley Common under blue skies and sunshine.

Though only a short walk of two miles, we enjoyed fine views over the Devon countryside to Dartmoor with Haytor clearly visible.

Back at the Wellington Inn we were joined by ten other members of the group for our traditional Christmas get together, a move from the usual location in Ashburton which we have now outgrown.

Joy was thanked by Ernie for fulfilling the role of Coordinater for the past five years and presented with a gift by Maureen G.   Bob has now taken over Joy’s  role as “Co-ord” and we all wish him well for the future.

Maureen G, our Treasurer, was thanked for keeping the group solvent.

The traditional “Stirring Prize” was abandoned for this year and instead Bob and Jane were presented with  “The Golden Scroll Wellie Prize” for 2012 for their Good Samaritan act in getting  Joy to A& E after her fall at Postbridge.

Ernie was thanked by Tony for once again organising this annual event and then we were entertained with further offerings from Ernie, Val,  Heather and Dennis.

With such a short walk and so much to chat about along the way I did not take many photographs but you can see the ones I took by clicking on this link.

Maureen K also took some photos including some to record the events inside the Wellington and you can see Maureen’s photos by clicking here.
