July 7th – Scorriton – Led by Graham

After the wettest year since Noah built his Ark and on the hottest day of the year so far, Graham led 17 walkers onto the moor from Scorriton. Apart from a lone mountain biker we had the moor to ourselves except for a herd of strange looking cows and a few sheep until we reached the deer farm where three stags were keeping watch on their flock of does. Back in Scorriton we were well served by the staff of the Tradesmen’s Arms. This pub closed a few years ago due to lack of trade but was bought by four local men who gave up their day jobs to buy and run it. Read this BBC account of the venture.
