Led by Jenni & Tony. Despite the prospect of a very wet walk, 12 walkers started out from Maidencombe village for a strenuous walk along the cliff paths and adjacent countryside.
The weather turned out to be remarkably friendly after all, with no rain and even some blue sky and sunshine at times.
The walk started by going north from Maidencombe as far as the Teignbridge border then turning inland and uphill to go south to the path at the top of the Valley of Rocks at Watcombe.
After a diversion into the Valley of Rocks we returned along the cliff path for lunch at the Thatched Tavern.
The walk took 2 3/4 hours and we covered a horizontal distance of just under 4 miles, though with all the ups and downs we probably walked in excess of 5 miles.
Being on the most rugged part of the Torbay coast, the walk involved a total of eight separate ascents ranging in heights from 16 metres to 93 metres. The total height climbed was 279 metres, which is 906 feet. (see map of walk and profile in the photos website.)
