November 2nd – Cold East Cross and Buckland Beacon

 – Led by Ernie

It was a cold, misty day with the threat of rain when 17 walkers arrived on the Moor. Leaving Cold East Cross Ernie led us d to Buckland Beacon where we stopped to look at the famous Ten Commandments Stone(s). Retracing our footsteps for a short distance we then made our way down to the clapper bridge over the diminutive River Ashburn. Passing by the Rippon Tor we rejoined the River Ashburn to sample the delightful Autumn colours. Back at the cars we found the clouds had descended with visibility down to 25 yards and the rain just beginning. Lunch was taken at the Star Inn Liverton, one of our favourite Old Codger haunts.
