Under a chilly clear blue sky 19 walkers, led by Chris and Malcolm, set off from Occombe Farm on a journey of discovery in our own back yards. Only a short distance from the car park and we were down into Occombe Valley amongst the trees and looking down the surprisingly steep slopes to the tiny stream below. Emerging at the bottom of the valley onto Preston Down we had glorious views over Paignton to Berry Head before heading down into Hollicombe Valley. After walking almost to Scadson Plantation we went over the hill to Warren Barn, then down into Cockington and past the church. Passing through the orchard (with some scrumping along the way) we went over the hill and down into Stantor Barton Farm where we saw some newly born lambs. We arrived back at the carpark to be met with a short sharp hailstorm before continuing to The Old Smokey for lunch.
