Following a few days of glorious sunshine this walk attracted a record number of 29 walkers. On the day there was low cloud so long range visibilty was not as good as it could have been for this 5 mile walk through the lush countryside on the eastern side of Dartmoor.
The walk, led by Tony & Jenni, started gently enough downhill from the village but we soon arrived at the bottom of Simms Hill, part of the route for the Exeter Trial held annually in January. This trial entails motorbikes and cars trying to get to the top of the hill. You can see photos of the Exeter Trial by clicking here and videos here.
After conquering this hill our walkers had little difficulty in tackling the remaining hills and apart from Graham & Ernie leading the middle section of the crocodile on an unplanned diversion and Tony getting bitten by a Dobermann Pinscher the rest of the walk passed without incident.
The walk ended with a most enjoyable lunch at The Carpenter’s Arms.
